ABOUT US

The Organisation of Horsebox and Trailer Owners (OHTO) is the leading supplier of specialist horsebox and trailer breakdown cover in the UK and Europe.

The company was formed in 1985 by Jon Phillips as a direct response to the experience of one of his friends, who was unable to get roadside assistance or recovery when their horsebox broke down on the way home from a show. Specialist equestrian cover did not exist at that time, and none of the major motoring organisations would attend a vehicle carrying horses.  

OHTO was established to ensure that horse owners are able to travel safe in the knowledge that should the worst happen they have extensive, experienced back-up to call upon. Since its formation OHTO has developed a membership consisting of every type of horse owner and equestrian vehicle, from a car and trailer carrying a faithful family pet, to racing trainers, to international competitors running fleets of lorries in both the UK and Europe.

In a breakdown situation all members can be assured of the best possible level of service from OHTO incident managers, trusted roadside and recovery suppliers and horse/livestock transport companies. We place a huge amount of importance on the relationships we have built with these suppliers over many years of working together.
