It was a direct response to a horsebox breakdown experienced by one of his showing friends on the way home from a show. In spite of being a member of one of the major rescue organisations, he was unable to get any assistance for his horsebox, and ended up paying a small fortune to get his horses home.
Now, thanks to the formation of the OHTO, thousands of members are guaranteed immediate UK back-up. The new, exclusive PRP Tyre Service network take care of tyre problems, whilst a further 10,000 garages and service points look after our members traveling throughout the UK and Europe. With over 50,000 rescues, one freephone call is all it takes to gain instant access to the largest and most experienced equestrian breakdown service available.
Averaged statistics tell us that every horsebox in the UK could break down at least once this year. Even the best-maintained horsebox, car or trailer may suddenly develop a fault that requires instant attention or emergency parts. Many, who are not members of the OHTO, will be stranded for hours with distressed animals on lonely country roads. Since 1985 The Organisation of Horsebox and Trailer Owners has carried out over 50,000 rescues on members’ vehicles needing fast, professional assistance both in the UK and across Europe.
The OHTO provide Horsebox or Car and Trailer Breakdown cover, Pre-purchase Vehicle Inspections, Hire Purchase Plans, General Vehicle and Trailer Insurance Schemes through specialist brokers. Members also receive
special discounts on non-equestrian memberships that are taken out through our special AA direct line.
Roadside repairs, recovery and overnight stabling are all FREE to members. The only charge is for any parts fitted - and these are invoiced at cost at a later date. There is no need for members to carry vast sums of money.
